Thomson Flights and Holidays
Thomson offers single and return flights to numerous different destinations and they also go the whole hog with great value package deals to some of Europe’s most sought after destinations. Their website is easy to navigate with exclusive holiday deals available on the homepage, including family package and all inclusive savings. If you have searched or booked on the Thomson website before then you may see a ‘recommended for you’ category that will give you holiday inspiration to hotels and destinations that suit your taste and budget. The website allows you to narrow down searches by specifying the airport you are flying from, your chosen destination and the number of people travelling. If you are selecting to book a holiday, you can also tell the search system how long you are planning on going away for. Please call the contact number if you are having any difficulty in booking your holiday. For flights alone, you can opt for a single or return flight.
Adding baggage to your Thomson Flight
If you have, or are going to, book a package holiday with Thomson then you can expect to have 15kg’s of luggage per person included in the booking, some package deals even offer a bigger luggage allowance of 20kg and this is clearly stated when you are booking your holiday. If you are unsure of your baggage allowance please call the contact number. If you have just booked a flight with Thomson and no added extras, you can add your bag on for a small fee. Package holiday travellers can have hand luggage weighing up to 5 kg and flight-only passengers are allowed the same but anything bought at the airport or things such as tablets and laptops must be able to fit into your one bag. You must be able to fit hand luggage into overhead lockers yourself without difficulty. Please ring the contact number for more information about baggage weight allowances and additional fees.
Thomson Check In
To check-in online with Thomson, you can simply visit their website and enter your flight number plus a password you created when you made your booking. You will then be taken to the ‘manage my booking’ page where you can see the details of your upcoming journeys and follow the instructions to check in for your flight. Checking in online is often a process favoured by many as it avoids queues upon arrival at the airport. You can check in different passengers at the same time if you have several passengers on your booking. You will need to either print your boarding pass and show it on your smartphone at the airport. Online check in for standard bookings opens seven days before your departure date and when you check in you will be given an automatic seat allocation (unless you have paid extra to reserve your own seat). The seats are issued on a first come first served basis. If you have paid for the select your seat service or have chosen to fly platinum, your check-in will open 14 days before the flight’s departure. If you missed out on checking in online for your flight, don’t worry you can queue to check in at the airport when you arrive. If you are doing this, you need to arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight’s due departure. If you are having problems using the online check-in service then please call the head office contact number. Please note that in certain cases if you fail to
check in online then Thomson do levy the right to charge you at the airport for check-in. Call the contact number for more information about this.
Thomson Flight Changes and Cancellations
To cancel your Thomson holiday you will need to go to the ‘manage my booking’ page on their website and follow the instructions to cancel. Cancellation charged may be in place, but it depends entirely on the booking. If you have booked through a travel agency then, unfortunately, you will not be able to go online to cancel your holiday and instead you must contact the agency with which you booked the holiday. If you are cancelling a holiday because of a medical condition that you were unaware of when you booked the holiday, and you also have Thomson holiday insurance, then you may be eligible for a refund, call the contact number to find out what you are entitled to. Full terms and conditions regarding cancellations can be found on the Thomson website. Cancellation charges with Thomson do depend on how many days prior to your departure you have decided to cancel your booking. Again you will need your flight number and password to cancel your flight. Bookings are amendable whether it be a package holiday or just a flight, but each will be subject to an amendment fee.
Thomson Platinum is a collection of holidays that have been put together by Thomson based on recommendations from passengers. The holidays are usually in premium hotels and are aimed at those looking for something extra special. The properties chosen will only keep their place in Thomson’s platinum collection if they continue to receive high scores from their customers, meaning you are guaranteed to be holidaying to a highly recommended destination.
