Laura Ashley logoLaura Ashley is a homeware and clothing store, based in the UK.  It is a Welsh textile design company but is now owned by the MUI group of Malaysia. It was founded in 1953 and within 20 years it was a full grown retail chain that was trading all over the world. The store was originally founded by Laura Ashley and her husband Bernard. In its peak year, 2000, sales totalled over 276 million and its vibe is most definitely quintessentially British. In 1955 Laura Ashley moved its head office to Kent and the first retail store under the Laura Ashley name opened in 1968 in Kensington with shops in Shrewsbury and Bath closely following. The company went into public holdings after Laura Ashley’s death in 1985 and it continues to trade under the name today.
