Popular Questions About Halfords
Who makes Halfords motorcycle oil?
It is unconfirmed which manufacturer makes Halfords’ own-branded oil, but motorcycle forums believe that it could be Comma or Duckhams.
Halfords: Where is my order?
You can track an order that you have placed on the Halfords website by inputting your email and order number.
Halfords: How long does an MOT take?
The Halfords MOT test takes 45 minutes, but ideally, you should allow an hour of time in case any small repairs to your vehicle are required. You should also arrive at least five minutes before your appointment.
Are Halfords in the Cycle2Work scheme?
Yes, Halfords are one of the main cycle retailers who are taking part in the Cycle2Work scheme. The scheme works by an employer purchasing bikes from Halfords, which are then leased to employees. The money is taken from the employee’s monthly salary but the employee will save on their tax and National Insurance contributions in return. Halfords has 11 years of working with employers and employees to offer the scheme and has given out over 500,000 bikes to employees. You’ll have a wide choice of bike and accessory brands and you’re not just restricted to Halfords products, as several independent bike retailers are also taking part.
Where is Halfords’ head office?
The Halfords head office can be found in Redditch, Worcestershire. You can find the full postal address in the table at the top of this page.
Halfords was originally founded as an ironmongery wholesaler in 1892. Several years later, in 1902, the store moved to Halford Street in Leicester, began selling cycling products and was renamed as Halfords. By 1931, there were over 200 Halfords stores and 300 by 1968.
In 2004, the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange. By 2007, the company had its sights set on Europe, opening a store in a village near Prague. Later, more stores were opened in Central Europe- the company’s reasoning for this is that the roads there are slightly older, so the people living there would be more open to maintaining their cars themselves by purchasing parts. However, the Central Europe stores were closed in 2010.
There are two units of business: Halfords Retail and Halfords Autocentres. There are over 450 Halfords stores across the UK with 22 stores in the Republic of Ireland.
