Farmfoods is a supermarket chain which specialises in frozen food products. The company has over 300 stores across the UK, which are usually positioned on retail parks at the edge of town.
There are many benefits to frozen food, which is why Farmfoods has chosen to specialise in it. Frozen food is often more nutritious, as freezing prevents vitamins from being lost during the transit process. Frozen products are often safer too because it makes it impossible for bacteria to multiply and the food does not need to have preservatives added to it. Frozen food also stays fresh in the freezer for a larger timeframe, which prevents food waste. Lastly, frozen food is much more convenient- many Farmfoods products can be prepared straight from the freezer.
Farmfoods often has in store offers for customers to take advantage of, such as 2 for £1, or 3 for 2. Unfortunately, there is no way to find out the offers in advance of visiting the store, but occasionally you may see an advert for your local store in your area newspaper.
To get vouchers to spend at Farmfoods, you can join the Farmfoods mailing list. You’ll receive details of the latest products, prices and get money saving vouchers. You can also use popular voucher search websites such as Hot UK Deals and Voucher Codes to see if there are any deals currently available.
Farmfoods Store Locator
You can use the Farmfoods website to find your nearest store. You can click on your area on the map or enter your postcode. You can also enter how you will travel to the store, such as by car or public transport and Farmfoods will try to find the store that best fits your needs.
Farmfoods is selective when it comes to choosing a property to base their store at. They typically look for: 4000-10,000 sq ft, adjacent parking, the edge of centre/small retail park, and at a roadside.
Farmfoods Savings Card
The Farmfoods Savings Scheme will allow you to build up your savings. You can open an account from just £1 and save as often as you wish, even putting your change every time you shop in-store onto your card. The card can also be used as a gift card and is ideal for students who live away from home as it can only be used in Farmfoods stores but you can put any amount on it. The savings card has replaced the savings stamps scheme.

Farmfoods began life as a meat manufacturing business based in Aberdeen. The company began to freeze products as a way to help encase the freshness as they were sent out to various catering outlets. In the 1970’s, a freezer centre was set up in Aberdeen and it proved to be lucrative, so in 1975, the entire business shifted focus to become a frozen food retailer. 10 freezer centres were opened across Scotland, becoming Farmfoods as it is known today. By 1988, the retailer had expanded to 33 stores in Scotland.
In 1990, following the acquisition of Wallis Frozen Food stores, Farmfoods moved into the English market. Later that decade, the company acquired Capital Freezer Centres as well as a few smaller chain stores across the country. By 2011, the company had over 300 shops, mostly in city and town centres. However, recently the retailer has begun to focus on out of town stores on retail parks.
Farmfoods has continued to develop its product range with a range of grocery items, cleaning products, canned foods, chilled items, confectionary, fresh fruit/veg and drinks. The retailer has a mix of branded and own branded goods across the range.
