Great January Gym Deals you Can’t Refuse

As January relentlessly ticks on and forces you to put away the mulled wine, scoff the final quality street and slump back to work, you may be feeling a little sluggish after what was undoubtedly an overindulgent (but wonderful) Christmas. Getting to the gym is a resolution most of us make as we aspire to be fitter and healthier in the new year, however, making excuses can sometimes be all too easy and before you know it, it’s February and all resolutions have once again disappeared. Getting into fitness isn’t easy, nobody said it was but once you have actually joined a gym and been once or twice you may find that is isn’t as bad as you once feared, you may even find a class or programme that you actually (God forbid) enjoy. Another factor that puts people off joining a gym, is, understandably, the cost and contracts that force you to sign up and pay for several months in advance when you are not completely sure whether or not you want to commit. We’ve sniffed out some of the best January gym deals so that you have no excuse not to be more active.

Nuffield Health

This January, Nuffield Health are offering a free month’s membership meaning you will pay nothing until February 2017. You can visit their website to find your local club and join there and then in a few easy steps. If like many, you’re new to the gym and are struggling with where to start, you can take advantage of their health MOT’s which mean a bespoke plan of fitness and nutrition is made to suit you and your goals. You can also book in for a health assessment if you have any concerns or would like to know where you’re at in terms of health and fitness.

Sports Direct

Sports Direct memberships can start from £5 per month if you are willing to join off-peak (this is only really ideal for those that will not use the gym at weekends and will visit during normal working hours). It is a great gym and will help keep you fit even if you are pushed for time with their 30-minute classes that consist of high-intensity workouts. These classes can be booked online and be sure to be quick as they tend to fill up fast!

Fitness First

Fitness First is well known for its top of the range equipment which ensures you get the most out of your workout. Although slightly pricier to join, their ‘have a workout on us’ offer means that you can try before you buy. Enter your details online; your full name, email address etc and select the club that is nearest to you. Someone will then be in touch to arrange your complimentary workout. A full induction will be included so don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit out of your depth!

The Gym

The great thing about The Gym is that it is a pay as you go gym so you are not tied into any type of contract, so if you did need to leave, you just cancel your membership and no payment will be taken. You can join ‘The Gym’ from as little as £10.99 per month which, if you’re going to use it regularly, is more than worth it. For January, they have scrapped their joining fees so get in there whilst you can. If you’ve fallen off the wagon, don’t panic, you can re-join for free, simply sign up again and you will be sent your pin. The Gym is open 24 hours so go at a time that best suits you.

Xercise 4 Less

Probably the cheapest gym around, you can get yourself a membership at Xercise 4 Less from £9.99 per month and this includes 200 great classes every month. Their handy app tells you everything you need to know about keeping fit and gives you advice on how to train depending on your goals eg weight loss, muscle gain, toning and conditioning or just general health and wellbeing. You can also use this to log your progress, you’ll be surprised how quickly you start to see results! They also have a ladies only area in every gym.

David Lloyd

David Lloyd has been popular for many years for people that are passionate about fitness due to everything that they have on offer. Although it may seem slightly pricey they offer a three-month membership which means you can cancel your contract free of charge after three months if you are struggling with the payments or feel that the gym isn’t for you.You can also book a club tour and check it out before committing. David Lloyd also have leisure facilities including swimming pools and a sauna, if swimming is more your thing! If you fancy a bit of variety and top class fitness instructors then this place is definitely for you.
