Argos is a catalogue retailer that is based in the UK and as of recent events is now a subsidiary of Sainsbury’s. The company still has physical stores (some can be found in Sainsbury’s supermarkets) or you can browse everything that they sell, online. Argos has over 750 stores and around 8 million website visits per year. These stats make it one of the largest online high street retailers in the United Kingdom. Argos as a brand was first created in November 1972 by Richard Tompkins. It grew fairly quickly as a store and in 1990 was listed on the London Stock Exchange. In April 2016, Home Retail Group agreed to a takeover of the brand by major UK supermarket Sainsbury’s. The company is now officially known as part of a division named Sainsbury’s Argos. Argos publishes a twice yearly free catalogue which has over 1500 pages, showing all of their products, which can easily be ordered by their customers.

Delivery – 0844 826 8013

If you have ordered online (or ordered in store and arranged a delivery) there are a number of different delivery options available to you. The cost varies depending on how soon you would like your items and the size/weight of the products that you are ordering. Argos even offer ‘same day delivery’ so you can be sure that you are going to receive your items as soon as you need them! Argos has an extremely convenient and efficient delivery service due to the fact that they deliver seven days a week (even on Sunday’s) between 7am and 10pm. Argos’ new fast track and same day delivery costs just £3.95 which is the same price as standard delivery. As long as you order by 6pm you will receive your items by 10am. Most items are eligible for the fast track delivery service, but if you are not sure whether the item you are buying is or not, just look out for the ‘fast track’ logo. If your item is not eligible for fast track, you will have to order it using standard delivery. You will still receive your items the next day using this delivery method but it could be any time up until 10pm. With fast track, you can choose your own delivery slots at your own convenience, whereas standard delivery could be delivered at any time. Of course, you can use order tracking to have a rough idea of when you can expect your items and you will also receive a text or email from the courier informing you on the day of when you can expect your delivery. If you do not wish to pay for delivery, then Argos’ Royal Mail delivery option is completely free, but does, unfortunately, apply only to specific products. If you are unsure whether or not you qualify for free delivery, then call the delivery helpline and a member of staff will be able to confirm this for you. If you are ordering large items (such as furniture or TV’s) then you may not be eligible for free delivery. Standard delivery prices for larger items start at £8.95 and go up to £14.95 if you would like to guarantee to receive your item the next day. You can either order items from the Argos website or you can look through a catalogue in store and ask a member of staff to place an order for home delivery for you. If you have ordered kitchen appliances from Argos (dishwasher, washing machine etc) you can also choose the option of having your new appliance installed and your old one taken away and recycled. If you would like more information about how this is done, please call the delivery helpline or check the terms and conditions on the Argos website.
